Our Digital team works collaboratively to develop end-to-end digital solutions, ranging from technology selection to building and operating phases. Spanning both software and hardware deployments, we deliver and manage scalable, cloud-focused, automated solutions – focused on shared knowledge, continuous improvement and design thinking.

About the role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will enjoy working on a diverse and exciting range of projects across various clients and industries. We are a technology agnostic business that opens endless possibilities for you to work across multiple tech stacks and multiple platforms with the opportunity to upskill and cross skill. We will always evolve as the technology landscape changes so we both won’t be left behind!

Your day to day

• Lead and mentor team members to become the next generation of leaders and software professionals

• Implement technology solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements and expectations

• Develop high quality code that can function with existing code, patterns and architectural techniques

• Provide clarification of technical requirements and the translation of these requirements into technical design

• Monitor and assess industry developments and incorporate them into solutions where appropriate

• Champion the adoption and evolution of AI-assisted development tools across teams and projects

• Design and implement team-wide agentic coding workflows (setup-plan-act) that integrate with existing development practices

• Establish team standards for shared context management, prompt libraries and reusable agentic patterns

• Mentor engineers at all levels on effective AI-human collaboration in software development

• Effectively utilise development best practices such as CI/CD and test integrations

• Ensure appropriate quality is maintained through practices such as unit testing

• Design systems that can be managed effectively in production environments

• Help our clients maintain and run reliable applications and systems

• Lead teams - delegate effectively, communicate and develop others

• Proactively identify and address issues outside of direct responsibility

• Go-to expert in one or more technical areas

• Use professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our five Mantel principles

What you’ll need to be successful

• Development experience within a Microsoft environment (C#, .Net)

• Expertise in modern API technologies & microservices, in order to architect and develop solutions on both greenfield projects and existing applications

• Strong technical and team leadership experience, having led the technical direction on both projects and software engineering teams

• Experience building and maintaining cloud based applications - AWS / GCP / Azure

• Experience with agentic coding tools and ability to lead team adoption

• Experience architecting development workflows that integrate AI assistance with human expertise

• Understanding of AI code generation security and quality assurance frameworks

• Proven experience establishing team ways of working with agentic tools, including:

  • Shared context repositories and knowledge management

  • Prompt engineering standards and libraries

• You are passionate about software development best practices such as CI/CD

• A self-starter mindset and an ability to work hands-on, to find answers and work with ambiguity

• Values driven and practical in your approach
