Data

Working in data at Mantel means there are opportunities to align to a particular cloud platform or remain cloud agnostic. Our teams are made up of awesome people who specialise in numerous areas of data so there are endless opportunities for you including data engineering, machine learning, data analytics and data science.

About the role

As a Data Engineer you will:

Work independently to develop, refine, and troubleshoot data pipelines. You’ll ensure that technical solutions are not just functional, but high-performing.
Support building and deploying data lakes and data warehouses on chosen cloud platform - AWS/Azure/GCP, using modern data tools such as dbt, Databricks, Snowflake.
Understand different project & delivery methodologies and use good judgement as to when to apply them e.g. Agile
Acts as a key AI collaborator, proactively advising on the optimal data-centric designs (e.g., data access patterns, schemas, streaming)
Contribute within your team, have a voice in team discussions, technical discussions and requirement gathering.
Understand how project stories/tasks and deliverables fit into the broader project context, proactively raising challenges that may be encountered.
Be across and have an basic understanding commercial aspects of projects, such as the Statement of Work (SoW).
Effectively work & build relationships with others along the way (e.g. SMEs, testers, end users, colleagues).
Mentor junior team members on technical fundamentals and best practices.

What you'll need

Solid knowledge of data engineering fundamentals (ETL/ELT, data modeling, and warehousing).
Proficiency in Python and SQL.
Hands-on experience with Databricks or Snowflake and at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Experience on data engineering projects in enterprise environments, ideally across different industries and organisations.
Can collaborate effectively with your immediate team, broader Mantel and client teams.
Clear and concise communicator, have the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Be curious and demonstrate a continuous learning mindset (proactively improve your areas of self development, pursue relevant certifications).
