About the role
The Senior Technology Operations Specialist is responsible for the ongoing management, security, and strategic evolution of the organisation’s digital workplace. This role bridges the gap between high-level security architecture and hands-on technical operations. Having established a foundation of modern endpoint management and phishing-resistant identity, this role focuses on maintaining high-assurance security standards, driving operational efficiencies, and leading the continuous improvement of our global technology stack.
Your day-to-day:
Modern Endpoint Governance
Zero-Touch Management: Oversee and refine the established modern onboarding workflow. Ensure the continued integration of Apple DEP and Workspace ONE for seamless, over-the-air device configuration and direct-to-user shipping.
Endpoint Engineering: Maintain and expand the library of modular software packages and secure mobile profiles. Utilise custom scripts for silent installations and volume licensing across the Windows and Mac fleet.
Hardware Lifecycle: Lead ongoing relationships and device ordering with third-party hardware vendors, ensuring equipment standards meet evolving business needs.
Identity & Access Management (IAM)
High-Assurance Identity: Manage the phishing-resistant identity framework. Ensure the continued reliability of FIDO2 (WebAuthn) and Okta FastPass to provide a consistent passwordless experience for all managed devices.
Access Architecture: Maintain and optimise granular Okta Authentication Policies, leveraging device trust signals to enforce secure, risk-based access to corporate resources.
Identity Maturity: Serve as the functional owner for phishing-resistant MFA, continuously centralising lifecycle management to prevent the emergence of Shadow IT.
Platform Administration & Automation
SaaS & Cloud Admin: Lead the comprehensive administration of Google Workspace and Okta. Proactively use GAM and APIs to automate lifecycle tasks, security audits, and environment maintenance..
Workflow Optimisation: Partner with stakeholders to identify and implement new workflow optimisations. Own the existing automation suite to ensure it scales with the business.
Asset Management: Maintain accurate and rigorous records of assets, software licences, and user accounts for compliance and financial reporting.
Security Operations & Incident Response
Threat Response: Act as the first responder for CrowdStrike Falcon alerts, managing threat identification, network containment, and host remediation to ensure business continuity.
Security Maintenance: Conduct regular secure configuration reviews and manage critical network patching and firmware upgrades across five regional office locations.
Risk Mitigation: Identify and diagnose faults or malfunctions, implementing remedies that prevent recurrence and improve system performance.
Technology Uplift & Portfolio Management
Portfolio Optimisation: Partner with the Technology Operations Lead on SaaS vendor relations, performing technical assessments for new integrations and periodic cost-benefit analyses to optimise licence spend.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with internal teams and external providers to resolve complex issues and drive larger technology initiatives.
Training & Mentorship: Provide high-level guidance to end-users on technology usage and mentor junior team members in best practices.
Future-Proofing: Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the technology stack remains modern and secure.
General Technology Operations
Assisting with Running the Service Desk Queue: Working with the Lead Tech Operations Specialist to manage incoming requests from staff around SaaS Applications and Day-to-Day support and Issues
Vendor assurance: Working with the CISO to support on activities for Clients
Internal Project work: Uplift to internal processes and Hardware to continuously make things better
What you’ll need to be successful:
Infrastructure: Solid understanding of network configuration and security patching across multiple physical sites.
Proven experience in a startup, scale up or high growth organisation and the evolving technology requirements that support future growth required.
Identity: Deep experience with Okta (FastPass, Device Trust) and FIDO2 standards.
MDM/UEM: Expert-level proficiency in Workspace ONE and Apple Business Manager.
Security: Hands-on experience with CrowdStrike Falcon or similar EDR platforms.
Automation: Advanced Google Workspace administration and command-line proficiency (GAM).
Experience in a similar role within a “people based” business environment, for e.g. professional services, technology or digital focussed organisations preferred.
Experience working in a hybrid organisation and the complexities that it poses with technology.
'A forward-thinking mindset with an eye for leveraging AI to drive operational excellence and smarter decision-making across the tech function.
Understanding of best practices with a pragmatic approach to know when and where to apply these.
A consultative approach with strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical requirements in simple & easy to understand terminology.
