Our Design team develops end-to-end solutions that help organisations move from idea to delivery, focusing on making human decisions about digital products. This includes defining the complete GenAI transformation paths and delivering organisation-wide AI literacy and governance programs.

About the role 

Joining Mantel means working alongside a team of seriously talented designers. As a Senior Designer, you'll bring deep consulting experience and hands-on generative AI practice to embedded squads, helping on genuinely novel problems.

Joining Mantel means you’ll be working with and learning from a team of seriously talented designers and product owners to shape how we deliver meaningful experiences for our clients through agentic and Ai-powered design. You'll bring deep consulting experience and hands-on generative AI practices to help our team and clients move from strategy to execution.

Your day-to-day:

• Embed within client squads as a senior design voice, bringing outside perspective and industry experience to drive outcomes inside cross-functional teams.

• Apply generative AI and agentic methodologies as a core part of your daily design practice — across research, ideation, prototyping, design systems and delivery — and help raise the bar on what's possible.

• Collaborate with and guide team members to frame and solve hard problems, deliberately creating space for them to deliver exceptional results.

• Define the approach, plan the work, and select the right methods to deliver actionable outcomes within a cross-functional team.

• Proactively communicate design ideas and decisions to delivery teams and clients, opening them up for further exploration.

• Guide clients to maintain strong human-centred design practices, even as the tooling and methods evolve.

• Actively grow Mantel's internal toolkit and design capability, particularly around generative and AI-enabled product design.

• Mentor other designers within and beyond your project.

• Contribute to Mantel more broadly — running events, training the team, supporting business development and proposals.

• Use professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our five Mantel principles
  

What you’ll need to be successful:

Must-haves:

• Consulting and embedded delivery experience. You've worked as a consultant (or in an equivalent hub-and-spoke internal model) and have a strong track record of being embedded in cross-functional squads to deliver real outcomes.

• Daily generative AI practice. You actively use generative AI and coding tools in your design work — not as occasional experiments, but as a core part of how you research, ideate, design, prototype and bring your product experience to life. You can speak to recent, hands-on experience designing agentic product experiences.

• Systems thinking. You can map end-to-end journeys including frontstage and backstage elements, and design within the full context of a service rather than just a screen or feature.

• UX and UI craft. You can take concepts through the UX process and bring them to a strong mid-fidelity state that teams can build on.

• End-to-end design fluency. You're experienced across all stages of design and delivery, with a solid toolkit of methods you can pull from to suit the problem.

Also important:

• You're driven to solve interesting and complex problems and have a natural sense for both business and user objectives across multiple platforms, devices, cultures and geographies.

• You're comfortable with ambiguity and developing solutions to navigate different scenarios.

• You're comfortable in Agile and Lean Startup environments.

• You can lead collaboration with technical counterparts and the wider business to deeply understand the problem.

• You're confident facilitating workshops, meetings and internal design initiatives, with strong communication and influencing skills.

• You take ownership, step up to help your teammates, and communicate clearly and kindly. You make sound decisions based on good judgement, and you treat colleagues and clients with respect, compassion and professionalism — in line with our five principles.
