Data Working in data at Mantel means you'll be ahead of the curve. You can align to a particular cloud platform or remain cloud agnostic, specialising in data engineering, machine learning, analytics, or data science. You'll design and scale enterprise-level, fully automated Agentic AI solutions, and speed up data platform migrations.

About the role 

As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer with Mantel Group, you will work with other smart, passionate and skilled people to deliver high-quality data science and ML outcomes to clients. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping technical strategies, leading complex implementations, and driving the success of our AI/ML initiatives.

Your day-to-day

• You'll oversee the identification and resolution of systemic issues across projects, establishing
  proactive processes for problem-solving and implementing high-impact solutions.

• Act as a deep SME and independent technical advisor. You will influence strategic direction, translate complex technical ideas into business terms, and support commercial discussions by identifying risks, opportunities, and milestones.

• Support in AI solution design, including the architectural design of complex AI solutions. You'll
  strategically drive AI applications for maximum business value and competitive advantage to align with client and long-term goals, leveraging an in-depth understanding of Mantel's capabilities and market position.

• Lead major internal initiatives and champion process improvements. You will drive best practice
  adoption within the AI & MLE capability and mentor team members to support Mantelʼs internal
  objectives.

• Lead technical communication strategies, ensuring clarity and team alignment.

• Expertly representing Mantel's AI thought leadership in internal and external contexts, with a
  comprehensive understanding of the tasks and capabilities of other teams.

• Use professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our Mantel principles

What you’ll need to be successful: 

• Ability to use professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and
  compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our five Mantel principles.

• Extensive experience overseeing AI model development and deployment, collaborating closely with
  Machine Learning Engineers to deliver scalable, production-ready solutions across various industries.

• Proven expertise in guiding teams and clients on multiple cloud solutions, ensuring scalable
  deployments, delivering impactful technical training, and significantly supporting sales enablement
  activities.

• A deep understanding of how AI initiatives impact client business value and drive strategic outcomes, demonstrating the ability to translate technical solutions into tangible business benefits.

• Ability to actively contribute to and influence Mantel Group's strategic direction in AI, proactively
  enhancing client relationships and success through your insights and leadership.

• A key role in internal initiatives, driving continuous improvements and supporting the development of best practices across the organisation. You take strong ownership of internal projects that significantly enhance team efficiency or client delivery.

• Demonstrated ability to influence (rather than just inform) client stakeholders through compelling
  thought leadership and expert guidance.

• A self-starting attitude, a hands-on approach, and the ability to thrive and lead in ambiguous
  environments, proactively identifying and solving complex problems.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills, capable of tackling highly intricate technical and strategic
  challenges with innovative and practical solutions.

• A genuine passion for and deep connection to the data science and ML Engineering community,
