Data Working in data at Mantel means there are opportunities to align to a particular cloud platform or remain cloud agnostic. About the role
As a key member of our Data Engineering team with a specialisation in Azure, you will be responsible for designing and deploying scalable cloud environments through code, architecting high-performance data pipelines, and building sophisticated data models that enable our clients to fully harness the power of the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and Microsoft Fabric.
Your day-to-day
Take responsibility for the deliverables and efforts of project teams (varying in size, complexity and makeup of the team), and at times sharing responsibility collaboratively with other Leads / Principals.
Establish an architecture for technical delivery, defining how this will be executed within the project and ensure this vision is clear and shared across the team and other relevant stakeholders.
Design and implement greenfield solutions, as well as recommending and implementing changes to existing solutions.
Show outstanding consulting, technical and project management skills. Keep your skills sharpened, staying at the forefront of technologies relevant to your capability through continuous development, including gaining certifications. Share your learnings back with the team.
Participate in pre-sales activities e.g. creating proposals/SoWs and facilitating walk-throughs with clients.
Build meaningful and trusted relationships with clients, key decision makers and partners (e.g. SME's within partners such as Microsoft, AWS, Google, Databricks, Snowflake). Educate clients and potential clients about Mantel’s offerings relative to the overall strategy.
Proactively lead internal initiatives so that Mantel is positioned as an employer and service provider of choice (e.g. GPTW initiatives, technical excellence, solution accelerators).
Use professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our Mantel principles
What you’ll need to be successful:
Strong consulting experience, either with external clients or internally within an organisation.
Experience in establishing technical architecture and leading the delivery of technical projects and project teams, with prior experience leading greenfield projects and maintaining high-quality work throughout all project phases.
Technical brilliance across a broad range of cloud-native services, with deep expertise in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem and experience in building and managing high-performance data lakes, warehouses, and lakehouses, with a focus on Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Factory, and Synapse).
Experience with modern CI/CD practices & tools, including Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab, and BuildKite.
Demonstrated ability to consistently drive and represent the Data Engineering capability both internally and externally, collaborating with other Mantel Group capabilities to ensure AI solutions are tailored to client needs.
Experience defining the data strategy for AI, including setting standards for feature governance, data quality, and data lineage - leveraging Microsoft Purview for robust, audit-ready ML systems and data quality frameworks to ensure long-term integrity and consistency.
Expertise in data modeling and schema design for high-performance analytics, including advanced Medallion Architecture patterns.
Knowledge of Azure-native data security best practices (Private Link, Managed Identities, and granular access controls) and data quality frameworks to ensure long-term integrity and consistency.
