The Opportunity:

Join our team as an AI Intern and gain experience working across Digital, Cloud & Data. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a creative internal project as well as gain insight into real-world solutions. In this role, you’ll work on a cross-functional project where you'll get to either try out AI tools, modern cloud platforms, automated data systems, or front and back end development. Don't worry if you don't have a lot of formal job experience yet - class projects, university research, self-taught skills, or personal side-projects are your biggest strengths here!

This internship is a unique opportunity to work alongside our technical leaders across Mantel, contribute to impactful internal accelerators, and gain valuable mentorship that can open up direct career pathways within Mantel. This is a paid internship position based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with our teams across Digital, Data, Cloud to help design and build internal project accelerators, bridging engineering disciplines, cloud services and AI

• Develop prototypes and experiment with the latest tooling and applications of AI that are emerging in the Enterprise Market today, including Generative and Agentic AI applications

• Assist in building and deploying the supporting infrastructure - such as data pipelines, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and APIs - required to bring AI capabilities to life

• Build your consulting skills by preparing demonstrations and demos for our senior leaders that can support client conversations

• Engage with Mantel’s SME’s for technical and non-technical guidance and mentorship, participating in regular project discussions and reviews

• Support the team with ad hoc tasks that advance our understanding of emerging methods and tools

• Use professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our Mantel principles

Who You Are:

• You have up to 12 months of commercial experience across at least one relevant domain - Cloud, Data, AI or Digital/Software Engineering

• You have practical exposure to at least one core area:

  • Digital: Creating websites or apps, writing clean code, or getting software systems to talk to each other (APIs)

  • Data: Pulling information from databases (SQL), cleaning up messy datasets, or organising data. Experience with modern data platforms like Databricks or Snowflake

  • AI: Experience of building an AI capability or workflow that has a practical application, either professionally or for your personal use

  • Cloud: Putting apps on the internet using tools like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, or packaging up software (like Docker) so it runs smoothly anywhere

• A person with high curiosity, adaptability, and an eagerness to expand your technical breadth across Digital, Data, Cloud, and AI while building real-world solutions for end users
